Fawn Male
Hi there, my name is Abe! I’m a big ole fawn boy and my people tell me I’m 4 years old. I love to play and romp and wrestle and chase squirrels and go for walks and play tug-o-war and chew on my bone and play some more. But I’m a goooooood boy, cause my people told me so. I can lay down, sit, go in my crate, play nice with the other doggies, and cuddle really well. I will chase cats if they run, have been known to poke the cat with my nose, just to see if they would like to run...<big cheesy grin>
I’m even learning how to tell my people when I need to go outside to go potty. Sometimes my people call me “Doorbell Abe”. I don’t know why, I don’t sound anything like the doorbell. I just want them to know someone is walking up to the house, or coming in the door, or making noise where they should not be. So I will bark and carry on. If you don't like me doing this you can train me not to. I am very smart and take direction well.
Can I come play with you and ask you for scritches too?

Abe Update – May 4, 2009
I’m a tall, lean boy, and now closer to 6 years old and living in a new foster home with several other dogs. I’d really like to play with the other Dane that lives here, but he won’t have it…the big ol’ grump! Guess I’ll just have to settle for playing ring-around-the-living-room-furniture with the resident Puggle.
I’m completely housebroken and no longer have to stay in a crate, but make sure to remove any treats, loaves of bread, or any food items from the kitchen counters, because I’m a smart cookie and an opportunist. I’m tall enough that my chin easily rests on a standard countertop, so obtaining these things is very easy for me. Oh, and don’t worry about forgetting to feed me, because I know what time I’m supposed to eat and will remind you!
Since I’m getting up there in age, I’ve slowed down a bit, and am pretty much a couch potato. In fact, that’s where I am 90% of the time, and boy do I love it there! I know my basic commands very well and make an excellent alert dog, even in my sleep! I’m quick to hear any sound that’s out of place…and even ones that aren’t out of place. I play catch really well, love attention, and when I don’t think I’m being paid enough attention, will ask for it by laying my head on your shoulder or lap or arm or whatever happens to be there.
I’ve been in foster care for a very long time and am more than ready to find my forever home. My only want in life is to be loved by a family who can look past my age and see me for the loving, velcro dog that I am! Are you the home I’ve been waiting for?

When all said and done, my medical costs to rescue will be $100 If you want to help but can't adopt please consider donating to my medical bills. It will help me and those who come after me if my bills are paid.
